hello.
reply to thread should be reply to all comments of thread, not only to last comment in thread, as it is commonly used now, for that, “reply” button of the comment, from which new thread is started, should be placed below all comments to that new-thread-starting comment. reply button of that new-thread-starting comment can be saved also in its old position, it can be used for starting one more thread from that comment.

    this also applies to v bulletin.
    in invision power board it is also but at least main quick reply of it sets reply to bottom like reply to first post.

    and as i wrote:
    it can be shown this way:
    thread does not go righter and righter with every reply.

    and can be shown as it is now but just should be main, default reply button on other place – after all of replies of thread.

    as i remember i posted about this in some livejournal development blog, probably http://lj-dev.livejournal.com/ , also i remember that dark blue style/design, also, i am “participant” of it . but i have not found my post yet, now. nobody understood what i said. and, seems, they have deleted my post, because i see nothing in http://lj-dev.livejournal.com/?poster=qdinar , also, i remember, that the post was deleted.

    i have discovered, that my submission of this posts’s text, at same day with this post, i.e. 2009-08-26, (time was “17:58”, but email have come to me at “17:26” ) was rejected by moderator with this reason:

It looks like you’re asking for a new feature for the LiveJournal service or a change to an existing feature, not how to implement something on your own server or client running LJ code. For that, you should really submit a suggestion, so that all users, not just developers, get a chance to discuss it.

    what is “resubmitting” about (no, see below) – i posted, asking, whether i can write in russian, in same day, at “12:48”, email has come at “15:08”.

    and (later) i have discovered another email, at 2009-sep-15 “10:12”, about my post at 2009-08(aug)-26 “17:56” is rejected. no reasons are given. probably, “resubmitting” refers to that post, which is 2 minutes earlier, and content of it was:

    i think that reply button for comment should move down below other replies to the comment. and then threads would go downward, not going righter with every new reply, or you can make that new reply to thread is placed righter. but a reply button can be saved also in old place near the comment from which new thread started, that can be used for starting one more thread from that comment.

    and there is another email at 2009-sep-15 “10:30”, also about rejection, of post at 2009-08-27 “00:22”, with this content:

    An ordered list of benefits

    • threads tree would be more compact and would not go too close at right side of window and “crash” at it… though tree as it is now is more beautiful, that also can be saved with placing every next reply in thread righter to one step.
      making next, one more reply to thread starter comment is some ununderstandable now, it would be more understandable.
      it is more logical… and feets at meaning of the word “thread”…

    the lj style comments, i.e. with every reply going righter, probably, has come from email discussions.
